  • Overview

    The Product Designer will create both production and advanced exterior and/or interior design proposals while demonstrating exceptional design intuition, strong presentation and design communication skills. Design assignments will range from complete exterior bodies to singular components such as front/rear end designs, wheels, exterior lighting and graphics/badging. Interior design assignments will range from complete interior compartments to singular components such as instrument panels, door panels, center consoles, steering wheels, hard trim, seats and gauge clusters.




     Basic Qualifications:

     * Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts, or BS in Industrial, Product, or Automotive Design * 3+ years of automotive exterior and/or interior product design experience * Working knowledge of Alias, Illustrator, and Photoshop * Ability to create both production and advanced design proposals while demonstrating exceptional design intuition * Ability to artistically represent 2-D and 3-D concepts using a wide variety of presentation techniques, including manual/digital sketching, ALIAS, Photoshop and/or similar programs * Experience with manual and digital sketching * Ability to work with a project team of technical engineers, clay sculptors and fabrication specialists is preferred * Strong presentation and design communication skills * Must possess an exceptional awareness of the global state of automotive design concepts and emerging design trends


    The Product Designer is responsible for facilitating the design and development of performance and accessory components/systems. The Product Designer will support engineering in design and manufacturing feasibility and packaging. Requires coordination with suppliers, core engineering and design office to design data and models using Teamcenter (data management system) and NX (CAD design software). The Product Designer will also host design reviews and complete/coordinate design follow-up actions. Required to develop and continually improve the data design process. Build relationships and communicate effectively with engineering, design office and suppliers.

    • Associate's degree in automotive or design.
    • 3-5 years' of NX design work experience (will not consider internships or coops as part of the work experience).
    • 1+ years of experience in automotive or aftermarket vehicle accessory designs. 
    • Experience with CAD and Data Management utilizing NX/Teamcenter.  
    • Critical thinking for Engineering feasibility and packaging to be able to recommend material usage and manufacturing processing.  

     Preferred Requirements:

    Bachelor’s Degree in automotive or design

    Experience in stamping, castings, molding.

    DFSS and/or Green Belt.

    Travel and Driving Requirements:

    Will be required to drive a company car.  A valid driver's license is required as well as a clean driving record.

    Will be required to travel domestically up to 20%.
