  • Overview

    The Metal Shop Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of metal model makers in the Experimental/Prototype Metal Shop. The Supervisor will direct the workforce in daily activities to achieve required productivity. The individual must be able to multi-task in a quick moving environment and develop build programs/prototype part fabrication time-lines to achieve delivery commitments.





    • Ten years of experience as a metal model maker including the ability to perform metal model maker prototype work.
    • Ability to summarize and present work to cross functional teams as well as to Senior Management. 
    • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to coach/mentor/develop team members within group.


    Strong vehicle build experience

    • The perfect candidate would have auto body shop experience, removing panels, aligning doors and hoods.
    • Skilled in alignment of components, surfacing and paint.
    • Fabricate models and fixtures from metal, wood and plastic.
    • Cut and weld materials within tolerances.
    • Automotive Mechanical and Electrical experience.
    • Ensure that prints coincide with the most recent engineering change.
    • Correct non-conformances found during inspection.
    • Inform Upper Management of any issues that may affect timing or quality.
    • Maintain a clean, neat, and organized work environment.
    • Document work process according to quality system.
    • Work within a team and understand overtime including weekends will be required to meet program deliverables.
    • Must have personal tools.
    • Know how to Mig and Tig weld.
